State Bank of India: Full History | Features and Benefits

State Bank of India was first started by British India named as Bank of Calcutta on  June 2nd 1806 bank was successfully ran ,after three years  Bank of Calcutta was renamed and redesigned as Bank of Bengal on January 2nd 1809 because Government of Bengal  got sponsorship with bank. After some years these banks recognized under Bank of Bengal.

  • Bank of Bombay – April 15th 1840
  • Bank of Madras – July  1st 1843

Lately they are combined  those three bank as Imperial Bank of India on January 27th 1921.

After got Independence India Politic  leaders plan need growth of economy in India so they take steps to linking commercial banks and Imperial Bank of India services are targeted to rural areas.That time All India Rural Credit Survey Committee highly recommended to for state partnered and state sponsored bank.

Parliament of India as announced name was State of Bank of India on May 1955.Then name of bank that is State of India legally established on July 1st 1955.State bank of India is more powerful than other banks because much quarter of resources  by  Indian banking System and also it became Subsidiary bank act passed on year 1959 this act enabled the State Bank of India Created totally 8 former states associated bank as its subsidiary.
